De La Soul's Album Historically Recognized By Library Of Congress
(WWHH NEWS)Hip-Hop group De La Soul's classic debut album 3 Feet High and Rising is one of 25 records selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry.
The album was chosen with a variety of other historical recordings, including a 1908 of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," "Dark was the Night, Cold Was the Ground) by Blind Willie Johnson (1927) and the classic single "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" by The Sons of the Pioneers.
Interestingly, Steely Dan's critically acclaimed album Aja was also included on this year's list
De La Soul sampled the song "Peg" from Aja and used it on the single "Eye Know" on their 3 Feet High and Rising album, which was produced by DJ Prince Paul.
Other notable songs included include Al Green's "Lets Stay Together" and Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man."
