Hip-Hop Rumors: Lil’ Wayne Disses The Throne!

Last night at the YMCMB pre-Grammy party in L.A., Lil’  Wayne took another swipe at Jay-Z. While addressing the crowd and showcasing his new sales plaque, as well as asking for a moment of silence for Whitney Houston, Lil’ Wayne rapped a line where he throws shade at The Throne.
Check out the 3:46 mark in the video below where Lil Wayne raps:
“I met a bad red bone/ I took the bitch home/ I asked her what she want to watch/ She said surely not, The Throne.”

DRAKE RESPONDS TO JAY-Z and PUSHA T DISS

Last night, Drake was on Funk Master Flex’s radio show and he did his fair share of responding to disses from Jay and Pusha-T. Obviously, Jay’s diss was towards Drake’s “brother” Lil Wayne. Anyway, he answered the questions pretty well, and Jay will still be his “mentor,”I bet. Scooped from MissInfo.tv.
Flex: Did you know that Wayne was going to go at Jay-Z on “It’s Good”…
Drake: I’m not gonna say that I didn’t hear the song before it went out….Wayne recently said I can never feel like I created a monster in Drake because I’m his boss….I’m a soldier for Wayne. I just did what I’m supposed to do, I delivered a verse. And he does with the song after that is completely up to him…
It’s silly to say that the initial jab wasn’t a jab, it’s silly to say that [Hov's] initial comment wasn’t completely directed at that situation….and Wayne is never afraid to step up to the plate, did what he did back and that’s what hip hop is about. I have the utmost respect for Jay, I’m not really involved in that situation. He’s been a great mentor in my career. And Wayne is a brother to me…
Flex: Miss Info had pointed it out that Pusha T’s did a freestyle that had some jabs. Did you take offense to it? Drake: Not really….I’ve never really had any interaction with Pusha T. So for him to diss me would be purely issues that he’s having with himself…We’ve met but we’ve always been cordial. I’m a fan of the Clipse, I say it in interviews….I’ve never really had an issue with him. But it’s a frustrating time for alot of people right now, I get it. So if it’s directed at me, just make it a little more direct next time. I’m up for whatever. I’m didn’t take offense…..

JOE BUDDEN'S SHOT AT JAY-Z? T.I.'S NEW STUDIO ARRANGEMENT!

T.I.'S NEW STUDIO ARRANGEMENT!

So, you know the word is out on T.I. Tip is NOT going back to jail and people are making sure he doesn't, from what I am hearing. One thing that will be cool for people into the environment is, I heard T.I. will be in a super high tech state of the art "green studio" in Atlanta. I heard this place is awesome! I heard they use stuff like recycled materials and solar energy. Most of all, I heard there's not alcohol or other such items allowed that may create and unsavory climate for Tip. Waiting for the King to take that throne back.

JOE BUDDEN'S SHOT AT JAY-Z?

So, the word on the streets is that Joe Budden took a lil' shot at Kanye and Jay-Z in his freestyle at the BET Hip-Hop Awards cypher. He said:

"I'm not watching the throne / I'm sabotaging it."

Interesting. But, here is the other side, Joe Budden has reportedly claimed that this IS NOT a SHOT at Jay and 'Ye. How can he expect us to take it any other way? Some of you yung bucks may not be aware, but Joe and Jay have been beefing in varying degrees for years. This is just another page in the continuing saga.

Jay-Z Addresses Lil Wayne Beef, Says 'That's Sport'

Hip-hop's two biggest names, Jay-Z and Lil Wayne, have thrown a couple shots each other's way on wax this year ... so what's all the beef about?
Hov responded recently, surprised by why it's even news.
On the track "It's Good", off Weezy's recently released Tha Carter IV, the rap star send some shots Jay's way, in response to a bar he aimed at Birdman.
"Talkin' about baby money, I got your baby money, kidnap your bitch, get that how much you love your lady money / I know you fake n***a*, press your brakes n**** / I'll take you out, that's a date, n****," Wayne raps on the track.
On Jay's Watch The Throne single, "H.A.M.," he had this to say: "I'm like really, half a billi, n**** really you got baby money / Keep it real with n****s, n****s ain't got my lady money."
Weezy downplayed the beef in Vibe magazine's coverstory, saying "I know there won't be any repercussions behind what I did."
MTV News caught up with Hov at his carnival-themed benefit last Thursday (September 29), where he reluctantly addressed the situation.
"That's sport, that's rap music," said Jay. "Nothing is going to change but the participants. I don't even see why that's news."

Hip-Hop Rumors: Jay-Z Supports J. Cole! Floyd Mayweather Go Ham On Twitter!!

First of all, I am hearing that J. Cole is expected to do roughly 250k his first week out, based on projected sales. Right now, he's the number 1 album on iTunes. But, check this out, he's also the number 10 album. His clean album is also selling. Last night, J. Cole had a party with his closest friends and industry people in the building. It was pretty cool, from what I heard. Jay-Z and Beyonce showed up to congratulate the young buck. I believe a lot of people were looking to see if Bey was still preggers since there are these crazy rumors that she is not. Anyway, it is what it is on that front! Respect! Cole World!

As promised, Jay-Z appeared on Fox 5 New York to make the official

He told the news station that he was “giddy” and excited for the NBA franchise’s relocation to his hometown
"It's already created so many jobs... there are lots of vendors," added Jay-Z speaking from the plaza at Atlantic Terminal overlooking the Center.
"I like that. You know what it is, it's deep love. Biggie had a line 'spread love that's the Brooklyn way. It's a deep love we have for our heroes. We walk around with that," said Jay.
Jay will also christen the Nets' new home with a series of eight concerts at the Barclay Center. Concert dates have not yet been announced.

Birdman Disagrees With Forbes, Says YMCMB Will Reach A Billion Before Diddy

Diddy was, once again, featured by Forbes this week, as one of their picks for the "Future 400" richest in America, estimating his net worth at around $550 million.
The financial mag says Diddy is on track to become hip-hop's first billionaire, beating out heavyweights such as 50 Cent and Jay-Z.
Some of his most profitable business dealings include his stake in Ciroc vodka, which is valued at close to $1 billion, alongside his ownership stake in fashion lines Sean John and Enyce, his marketing company Blue Flame; and, of course, Bad Boy Records.
While many in the hip-hop community are in awe of Diddy's business achievements and others congratulating him, some don't see it that way. They see it as competition ... and even argue that Forbes has it all wrong.
YMCMB's Birdman is contending that he and Lil Wayne should be in the conversation of future billionaires as well.
In fact, he says YMCMB will be the first billionaire brand in hip-hop, period.
"I think Young Money Cash Money would be the first billion-dollar brand in hip-hop," Baby claimed, in an email to Forbes. "We strong and growing every day as a brand and fast. Within the next few years we will be billionaires."
What do you think? Who will reach billionaire status first? Diddy, 50 Cent, Jay-Z, and/or Birdman?

Report: Jay-Z & Beyonce Have Already Spent $1 Million On Their Unborn Baby

Jay-Z and Beyonce are sparing no expense when it comes to their unborn bundle of joy.

The couple have already spent a cool million bucks making sure B and the baby are getting the best of care.

BeyoncĂ©’s waited a long time to have a baby and she’s determined to take good care of herself,” a source told DailyStab. “She’s paying a dietician to organize a food plan of natural organic meals for her, she’s having daily massages and she’s spent a fortune on lotions to prevent stretchmarks and keep her feeling good. BeyoncĂ©’s been told to look after herself like never before and Jay-Z’s making sure she has everything she needs.”

Money isn't an issue for the power couple, who are estimated to be worth nearly a billion dollars. So a few million spent to insure the health of their future offspring is small change.

Royce Da 5'9" Compares The Original 'Renegade' to Jay-Z's Version: 'It Helped Me Grow'

Bad Meets Evil half Royce Da 5’9” tells how The Blueprint's sole collaboration treked from Motown to Marcy
“Renegade” started out as a song me and Eminem were doing for my Rock City album. We thought the track was crazy. Em asked if I was cool with giving [Jay] that one, and I said, "Hell yeah!" I'm glad, because a classic record came of it.
When I heard Em and Jay's version, I was like, “Yo, this shit is going to be one of those ones.” It was incredible. Whenever I listen to something, I try to soak up as much game as I can and use it for inspiration. [Jay-Z’s version] actually taught me about my writing style and how to bring records home better. We weren’t in the same lane, but Jay took it where I should’ve taken it. It helped me grow.
But I don't know if it was a competition [between Eminem and Jay-Z], per se. I'm sure when Jay got Em's vocals, it pushed him to do what he did—we’re talking about two of the greats on one song. Eminem was making classic music, but to finally collaborate with the other guy putting up numbers, Detroit saw that Em was respected by his peers. It was a great look for Detroit. And a smart move by Jay to fuse what's great in hip-hop. I'm glad that song was on that album, because I knew people were going to be talking about it years later. I feel I helped with something so great, even though I played the smallest part.

Hip-Hop Rumors:Did J. Cole Get Dropped From The ROC?

I know this has to be a bad rumor going around. J. Cole just had a Roc Nation-approved listening session.Click here for HHG's review of his album right HERE. With that said, there is a terrible rumor that Cole's World may be spiraling out of the Jay-Z universe. I admit this comes from mediatakeout so you can take that for what its worth. But, they are saying that Jay-Z was the one that really pushed for this droppage. The reasons seem to be personal and not rooted in the fact that Cole's buzz isn't quite what it should be commercially. On the flip side, the report says that Cole will release that album that we love, and the so-called drop will happen after that. This, is where the rumor gets funny style. We know the game, don't we? Nobody is going to release an artists' album that that have a personal beef with. They will put said artist on the SHELF until the life runs out of his veins THEN "drop" him...not when they are still viable as J. Cole is. So, I don't believe this one.

Jay-Z Accused Of Forcing Residents Out of Luxury Building in Philly

Residents of a Philadelphia luxury building owned by international rap star Jay-Z claim that they are being harassed by the mogul's legal team, so that they will ultimately vacate the premises.

According to FoxNews, Jay-Z, born Shawn Corey Carter, is a co-owner of the company SCC North American Realty, LLC, which owns and operates a 24 unit condominium complex, which was purchased January of 2009.

Several tenants contacted FoxNews to complain about the treatment they have been receiving, claiming that they are being forced out of their apartments, with frivolous lawsuits, and other harassment tactics.

"The whole thing has been so unsettling,” a former tenant named Liza Tedeschi told FoxNews.com. "I’ve been in tears over this…They filed a lawsuit against me knowing that I had paid the rent. The lawyer admitted it to me, yet they still filed the lawsuit against me…It’s total and utter harassment."

Tedeschi told FoxNews that Jay-Z's real estate company even gave out the personal cell phone numbers of tenants to realtors to show off apartments that are not even up for sale.

According to residents, Jay-Z's ultimate goal is to evict all of the tenants from the property and it seems to be working - 15 tenants have left the building since May.

The tenants in the building became so angry that they called Pennsylvania Sen. Larry Farnese, who sent Jay-Z's lawyer a letter, on August 12th.

Sen. Farnese expressed concern over the treatment of the residents in the letter.

"He expressed his concern about what was happening in the building and asked that the management thoroughly investigate each complaint and handle each tenant on a case-by-case basis, and determine if eviction was appropriate, or if it was not," Senator Farnese's Communications Director, Kathie Abookire, revealed. "The latest that we heard is that Liza was issued a stay while the matter was investigated further. Our concern is for the tenant, that they're being treated properly, fairly and in accordance with the law. The owner of the building is immaterial. The fact that someone may be famous is not our concern."

A Milli? 5 Reasons Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter IV' Outsold Jay-Z and Kanye West's 'Watch The Throne'

Lil Wayne 1
1. Lil Wayne's "6 Foot 7 Foot" is a much bigger single than The Throne's "Otis"—despite the fact that it was released more than nine months ago.
There isn't a huge difference between the two singles as far as chart positions go—"6 Foot 7 Foot" peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, while "Otis" has gone as high as No. 12—but it's safe to say that a lot of the success of "Otis" can be attributed to the fact that Jay and 'Ye built WTT's buzz up to a deafening level before they finally threw hip-hop fans a bone and released "Otis." Wayne, on the other hand, dropped "6 Foot 7 Foot" allllll the way back in 2010, which has given both the song and the Bangladesh instrumental time to work their way into the mainstream. As a result, it remains ubiquitous on Top 40 radio.
Oh, and don't think we forgot about "How To Love," either. Hate it or love it, that song is a huge crossover hit for Wayne (it peaked at No. 5 on the Hot 100 chart) and, while hip-hop heads haven't exactly embraced it, mainstream radio has. And that's what you need to sell a million albums in your first week.

Lil Wayne 2
2. Lil Wayne hasn't given diehard fans much to work with since he got out of jail at the end of 2010.
By Lil Wayne's standards, he's been remarkably quiet in the last calendar year. Before prison, he was releasing a handful of mixtapes, a dozen or so guest appearances, and an album every year or so. But outside of a few notable guest spots (see: Kelly Rowland's "Motivation") and his lackluster Sorry IV the Waitmixtape, Weezy has been super quiet in 2011. So it's really no surprise that all his fans would rush out and buy the first sanctioned piece of work he put out in 2011.

Lil Wayne 3
3. Lil Wayne fans have proven that they'll buy just about anything that Wayne puts out.
Remember the I Am Not A Human Being album that Young Money released last September? Not exactly classic material. Yet, Wayne fans flocked to buy it. The lead single, "Right Above it," featuring Drake, was certified platinum and the album as a whole is almost platinum, too, having sold more than 900,000 copies to date. If you remember, that album wasn't promoted super well and included stuff that Wayne had recorded damn near a year before it actually dropped. All that didn't matter to Wayne's fans, though, who scooped it up with the quickness.

Lil Wayne 4
4. Lil Wayne's appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards put him front and center on the night that Tha Carter IV was released.
Make no mistake about it: This marketing tactic helped Wayne sell a boatload of albums. It's not like he performed a week before Tha Carter IV dropped or even a couple of days before people could pick it up in stores. He performed at the VMAs hours before people could log onto iTunes to cop it. It gave people the chance to buy it while Wayne was fresh on the brain.
Granted, there was also a palpable buzz for Watch The Throne that existed on the Internet. But even in 2011, not everyone runs to the Web to cop music or even relies on the 'net to tell them what they should be listening to, so Jay and 'Ye missed out on a lot of sales simply because they kept the album a secret for so long.

Lil Wayne 5
5. Lil Wayne has worked his ass off touring to get people excited about his music again.
If you think about Wayne's buzz before Tha Carter III as compared to his buzz before Tha Carter IV, it was much different back then than it was this time around. In 2008, Wayne had so much material floating around on the Internet and such a big buildup to the project that people couldn't wait to cop Carter III. It's one of the reasons it flew off store shelves. In 2011, that same buzz is still there, just in a different form. Wayne's I Am Music tour has put him front and center in dozens of different cities throughout the last year. It's given the rap blogs tons of material, given rap fans an opportunity to reconnect with Wayne, and given Wayne the chance to sell himself to the people again. And it's paid off. It's paid off big.
So while it seems like Watch The Throne should have outsold Tha Carter IV, the truth is that hard work pays off. And while we're sure Jay and 'Ye worked hard onWTT, Wayne worked just a little bit harder at actually getting people to buy his album. So, should we really be surprised at how many albums he was able to sell? Like it or not, Wayne wins again with Carter IV.

Jaz-O Returning To Rap With First Album In Almost 10 Years

Jay-Z's former mentor Jaz-O has announced that he will return to the rap game, after a 10-year hiatus.

Representatives for Jaz-O revealed he is working on a new mixtape and an album full of new material, which will be released sometime next year.

"Jaz has told us he's not taking no more breaks," a rep for the rapper told hiphopgeek.net. "So get use to Jaz-O poplin' up on features, mixtapes and blogs."

In addition to recently rapping over Jay-Z and Kanye West's hit song “Otis,” Jaz-O just dropped a new single titled “From Da Projects.”

Also, Jaz-O has inked a deal with Fork and Spoon Digital Distribution, to re-release his last official album, 2002's Kingz County, which will hit stores again in mid-November 2011.

Jaz-O is crediting with discovering Jay-Z, but they parted ways on bad terms, shortly after Jay-Z launched Roc-A-Fella Records.

Over the years, the pair have gone back and forth, sending jabs at one another through their lyrics.

Jaz-O's last high profile diss towards Jay-Z was in 2009, when appeared on Game's track "Gangsta's Ride."

Check out “From Da Projects" here.

The Streets vs Wall Street: Clash of the Hip Hop Titans

"I'm not a businessman. I'm a business..man!"
        - "Diamonds From Sierra Leone"  Kanye West w/Jay Z

The tension had been building for months when it finally happened; the clash of the Hip Hop Titans. Lil Wayne and his crew of Bloods bum-rushed a Jay Z interview at a New York radio station. When Weezy grabbed the mic and launched a vicious verbal attack, Jay Z just smiled, sent a text on his Blackberry and quietly left the studio. Claiming a victory, Weezy and his boys went bombastic and starting throwin' up gang signs, only to return to their cribs later that evening to find their lights cut off, cars repossessed and eviction notices on their doors....

Recently, the streets have been buzzin' about Lil Wayne's jab at Jay Z following his "Baby money " line on H.A.M.. Weezy responded on "it's Good" by reminding Jigga that he is the wrong Blood to mess with and threatening to kidnap Beyonce, for his "how much you love your lady money."

Really?

What is interesting about this this beef is the clash of iconic Hip Hop images, one loyal to the streets and the other becoming more closely aligned with Wall Street.

Let's be real from the jump. Neither one of these cats is suffering from the Recession and unless they do something really stupid (or in Wayne's case, stupid-er) they don't have to worry about their grandkids ever spending a day flippin' burgers at Mickey D's. However, Jay Z's public image is very different than that of Lil Wayne.

To middle America, Shawn Carter represents the quintessential hood to riches story of a kid from the projects who went from sellin' drugs on the corner to jacking a big piece of the American pie. In contrast, Dwayne Carter represents the boyz in the 'hood who would rather wear white Tees instead of $5,000 Armani suits. ( even if they could afford them.)

While Weezy reps a nation of Bloods who claim ownership of many street corners in 'hoods across the country, Jay Z runs with the gang that owns the companies that control the water, lights and cable in those neighborhoods. Weezy's crew represents that "young money" but Jigga's crew controls that old money, the type of money where your name is your Black Card.

While Lil Wayne is adored by a nation of teenagers who follow his every tweet , Jay Z gets mad props from Warren Buffett.

Now, I'm not saying that Jay Z is the Hip Hop head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and one verse from him can destabilize the economy of a small country but he can effect the Dow Jones.

Does Weezy posses that kind of juice? Not really. Making an artist blow up because of a guest colabo is not the same as runnin' the stock exchange.

To the industry, Jay Z is a long term investment but Lil Wayne is disposable and can easily be thrown away after Lil Johnny from the 'burbs no longer wants to gang bang ,vicariously, through his music or the owner of his record parent label pulls a NFL Jerry Richardson/Cam Newton move and decides that face tattoos are no longer conducive to the well being of his company.

The underworld has always been a road to the riches. It was even an acceptable avenue for poor black folks to move from Fred Sanford's junkyard to George Jefferson's "de-luxe apartment in the sky." Back in 1957, E. Franklin Frazier wrote in his book "Black Bourgeoisie, " the black bourgeoisie is also being recruited from the successful underworld Negroes, who have gained money from gambling, prostitution, bootlegging and 'the numbers."

However, for most suburbanites, Jay Z is like JFK's pop, Joe Kennedy, who, legend has it, made his millions by bootleggin' liquor or a Mafia don who went legit and became a model, tax paying citizen. But Lil Wayne is the cat, who, though exciting to watch, may still punch you in your face and snatch your necklace, just on general principle.

It must be noted that like most of the Hip Hop beefs, the Carter conflict is based on the proverbial "code of the streets." In his essay "The Black Child," the late psychologist, Dr. Bobby Wright wrote, "Street sense generally prepares Blacks to deal with one another in very destructive ways and the Whites wipe out the winner."

But America needs Sean Carter and Dwayne Carter. They need Jay Z to propagate the lie that if you would only hustle hard and not use your celebrity status to make waves and upset the status quo, you too can marry the baddest chick in the game and own a NBA franchise. They need Weezy to promote the "You can take the boy outta the hood but you can't take the hood outta the boy" stereotype and to perpetuate the urban legend to millions of impressionable kids that if you run with gangs and perpetually sip who- knows -what out of styrofoam cups, you can be living large at 30 years old instead of dead or in jail.

Perhaps, the worst thing about Hip Hop beefs is that they promote the self destructive idea that two Black men can't shine at the same time and cannot coexist without threats of violence, whether real or on wax.

Despite the outcome of the beef, whether Lil Wayne releases a vicious onslaught of remixes or if Jay Z posts Photo Shop pictures of Weezy on the stage at every stop of the "Watch the Throne" tour, they will never understand that they are both just pawns in the game.
