Hot Rod Talks Career Up & Downs, Being Kicked Off Stage By 50 Cent (Video)

Nearly six years ago, Arizona-bred rapper Hot Rod saw his life change over night. Instead of flooding the streets with mixtapes, he sent a demo to 50 Cent's G-Unit offices ... and received a call one day, and was signed to the label shortly after.
Immediately after signing he recorded his debut single, the Mary J. Blige-assisted "Be Easy," but when it flopped, Hot Rod experienced his first taste of the ups and downs of the music industry. From there, Fif' told him, he had to grind on his own ... build his buzz, so he did.
Today, he's been pushing a pop-style hybrid of hip-hop, and has been garnering a fanbase overseas.
In this interview with SINternet.com, Hot Rod explains his journey thus far. From getting a phone call from 50 Cent and quitting his day job the next day, to his single flopping to being kicked off stage. Hot Rod never gave up, and is finally getting his shot.
Back in December 2010, 50 launched G-Note Records, a division of his G-Unit label, focused on pop-friendly and R&B acts. Hot Rod is the first artist to drop through the label.
