Rappers Weigh In On Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s Controversial 'Apology Knockout'

Controversial boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. defeated opponent Victor Ortiz early this morning (September 18th) in Las Vegas in a fight that ended in controversy.

A variety of celebrities came out to see Mayweather, including Sean "Diddy" Combs, Mark Wahlberg and rapper 50 Cent, who accompanied the champion to the ring.

The fight came to a halt in an unusual ending in the 4th round.

Ortiz attempted a headbutt on Mayweather and the fight was briefly stopped by referee Joe Cortez, who warned Ortiz against fighting dirty.

As referee Joe Cortez looked away, Ortiz attempted to apologize to Mayweather.

When the pair walked towards each other in what Ortiz thought was an apologetic gesture, Mayweather two pieced him and knocked him out, just as he was turning away.

Mayweather discussed the controversial knockout after the fight.

"I got hit with a dirty shot and it's protect yourself at all times," Mayweather told commentator Larry Merchant after the fight. "He does something dirty. If he wants a rematch, he can get it."

Mayweather became frustrated with Merchant's line of questioning and snapped on him.

"You'll never give me a free shake," Mayweather said in Merchant's face. "HBO needs to fire you, you don't know s**t about boxing."

"I wish I was 50 years younger, and I would kick your ass," Larry Merchant retorted.

Victor Ortiz had a different response.

"I was called to break by the referee. I obeyed as I was I told. I looked up and 'boom' I was out," Ortiz complained.

A number of rappers weighed in on the controversial "apology knockout."

"Victor wasn't ready for the big lights why he put his hands down. Stupid move fighting Money Mayweather,” G-Unit affiliate Tony Yayo said.

Big Sean weighed in on the fight as well.

“If Floyd cheated then y he got the belt. That n***a Floyd was attentive and smart. If it's legal u can't hate. Ortiz did him. If anything.”

According to Cash Money Records CEO, he's cashed in twice on Floyd Mayweather'sfights.

He allegedly bet $4 million on Mayweather when he defeated Sugar Shane Mosley in May of 2010.

"YMCMB. BORN 2 Win. Milly n***a. We Tha Busine$$," Birdman tweeted.

For Nelly, it was a case of karma for Victor Ortiz, since he initiated the shocking sequence of events.

"LOLOLOL SEE DATS WAD HAPPENS WEN U CHEAT!!" Nelly tweeted.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the new welterweight WBC champion of the world with a record of 42-0.
