Tinie Tempah Says He'll Never Wear His 'Back To The Future' Nikes
UK rapper Tinie Tempah made headlines across the world last week, when news surfaced that he was the man who bought the very first pair of Nike's highly anticipated Mag sneakers, aka the "Back To The Future" shoes.
Tinie won the first pair in a charity auction held in Los Angeles last Thursday (September 8) for a cool $37,500. Just 1,500 in total have and are currently being auctioned off on eBay, but the UK rapper was the first to hold them in his hands.
To him, it was a dream.
"It was a number of things. First of all it was for a charitable cause and I'm a huge fan of 'Back To The Future,' and of course their Nike Mags, it all kinda made sense to me," Tinie told BallerStatus.com when asked why he bought them.
With the kicks in his possession for a week now, how do they feel to wear them? Tinie doesn't even know, because he hasn't put them on ... and may never give them a trial run.
"Never, I'd keep it (in a display box)," he explained.
The remaining pairs of Nike Mags will continue to be auctioned off through eBay's Fashion Vault, until September 18th. Each day, 150 pairs will go up for auction ... and they're aren't going cheap. Most are selling for well over $5,000 and up.
All proceeds will benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation, and Fox himself, revealed during his appearance on the "Late Show With David Letterman" that Google's founders have agreed to match the amount the auction brings in.
