Rumors of a Kanye West fashion line have been circulating for months now. But with Paris Fashion Week coming next week, new reports say the rap star is preparing to introduce pieces from his Spring/Summer 2012 line. Sources tell New York Magazine that Kanye has been working with Central Saint Martins graduate students in Turnmills, a now-defunct nightclub in London. The students are rumored to be making the new line, and Kanye's been there often, overseeing things. A source says that Kanye has been hands on, but his indecisiveness had made the collection hard to materialize. Thus, it may not be ready for Fashion Week in Paris. "Kanye was in fairly often (for all the fittings), [he] was very nice and polite and talked knowledgably [sic] about shape etc., but was prone to changing his mind a lot," the NY Magsays, citing an anonymous source. "In fact, the whole process was slightly excruciating, as there were SO many opinions that it took forever to get anything done'. Our source went on to say they would be 'amazed' if the collection is ready in time for Paris Fashion Week, 'and that's quite likely the reason it wasn't shown last week at New York Fashion Week after all'." In the summer, there were rumors that he was developing a line with British knitwear designer, Louise Goldin, which she denied. Ironically, the graduate students reportedly making his line months later, are ex-CSM students of Goldin. The source also said that Kanye's collection has references to the Samurai, sporty garments, luxury garments and embellishments will play an important role in shaping the overall look. Australian Harper's Bazaar's Christine Centenera is thought to be the line's muse as she is "hanging around so much." Stay tuned... |
