Eminem’s Grammy-Winning Album “Recovery” Goes 4x Platinum

 2011′s Grammy Award-winning album by Eminem, Recovery, was officially certified 4x platinum yesterday (February 2).

Recovery exploded on the charts in June of 2010 when it sold over 750,000 copies in its first week.

The album, which was executive produced by Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Paul Rosenberg, contained a wide range of tracks that made their way across both Urban and Pop radio for most of 2010 and 2011 off of the sound and success of the hit singles “Not Afraid,” the Rihanna-assisted “Love The Way You Lie,” and “No Love” which featured Lil Wayne.

In 2011, Eminem released Hell: The Sequel, a collaborative album between himself and Royce Da 5’9″. The two went under the monikers of Bad and Evil for the album, playing off of their acclaimed song from Em’s 1999 album The Slim Shady LP, which featured Royce on the song “Bad Meets Evil,” for which the newly released album was named.

Eminem is currently helping to put some finishing touches on the upcoming Slaughterhouse album, which is scheduled for release this May, as well as his own currently untitled ninth studio album.

Though Eminem and Yelawolf grew up on different sides of the country, the adversity they've overcome is their common bond. It took some close friends to push Marshall onto the music of Alabama's backwoods b-boy, but after one listen it became clear to him Yelawolf was destined for Shady. Now aligned on the same team at Em’s revamped Shady 2.0, Yela's debut LP, Radioactive, rests in their hands.

Brisk Takes A Look At History Of Shady Records/Eminem (Pt. 1) (Video)

Over the weekend, on Saturday (September 17), Shady Records held a private show at the Brisk Bodega pop-up store in New York, which featured performances by label signees, Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf.
But also during the show, there was a cool Shady Records exhibition featuring rarities and collectibles from through Eminem's career.
In this clip, put together by Brisk, Em's longtime manager and Shady Records co-founder Paul Rosenberg narrates as cameras take you through a look at Shady Records' history.
This is part #1, which includes rare early photos -- such as a photo taken at the Lyricist's Lounge from 1997 showing Em with a young 50 cent; and a pic with the rapper alongside Da Outsiderz -- as well as various early plaques, costumes he wore over the years, and even some toys and posters.

Eminem 'Born of Fire' Commercial Wins An Emmy

This past week Eminem helped earn an award for the Chrysler 200 commercial that premiered last year during the NFL's Super Bowl

The commercial, which starred hometown rapper Eminem, Chrysler moved the city of Detroit with a riveting commercial that caught the eyes of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Aaron Allen serves as a creative director from Wieden + Kennedy, the Portland and New York based ad agency that created the commercial.

"We were very surprised," Allen said. "We really wanted to win but wondered if humor would win instead."

Called "Born of Fire," the commercial featured Eminem rolling through Detroit while "Lose Yourself" played and a narrator talked about Chrysler and the Motor City, well known for its role in making General Motors cars.

The Creative Arts Emmys air 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 on the ReelzChannel.

“Renegade” started out as a song me and Eminem were doing for my Rock City album. We thought the track was crazy. Em asked if I was cool with giving [Jay] that one, and I said, "Hell yeah!" I'm glad, because a classic record came of it. 

When I heard Em and Jay's version, I was like, “Yo, this shit is going to be one of those ones.” It was incredible. Whenever I listen to something, I try to soak up as much game as I can and use it for inspiration. [Jay-Z’s version] actually taught me about my writing style and how to bring records home better. We weren’t in the same lane, but Jay took it where I should’ve taken it. It helped me grow.

But I don't know if it was a competition [between Eminem and Jay-Z], per se. I'm sure when Jay got Em's vocals, it pushed him to do what he did—we’re talking about two of the greats on one song. Eminem was making classic music, but to finally collaborate with the other guy putting up numbers, Detroit saw that Em was respected by his peers. It was a great look for Detroit. And a smart move by Jay to fuse what's great in hip-hop. I'm glad that song was on that album, because I knew people were going to be talking about it years later. I feel I helped with something so great, even though I played the smallest part.

Tyler The Creator Finally Meets Eminem In Ireland

Odd Future's Tyler The Creator is coming off one of the biggest weekends of his career, following his Best New Artist win at Sunday's (August 28) 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.
But, he also recently checked off a goal on his bucket list: meeting Eminem.
The pair recently posed backstage at the Tennent's ViTal music festival in Ireland. For Tyler, it was a dream come true, because ... well, he grew up idolizing Slim Shady.
"F***kkkk O My Atheist God. Goal List Check: I Told Him Relapse Was One Of The Greatest Albums To Me," Tyler tweeted (@f***tyler).
While Tyler's excitement was definitely shown in the tweet, Eminem himself showed a little love to young Tyler and his OFWGKTA crew, telling MTV back in June that he loved what they're doing.
"I've heard enough to know that it feels like they're pushing boundaries and buttons, and that's definitely one of the things that I'm familiar with, especially when I first came out," he told MTV. "I love it, I love the fact that they're doing that. And the dudes can rhyme."
