Last night at the YMCMB pre-Grammy party in L.A., Lil’  Wayne took another swipe at Jay-Z. While addressing the crowd and showcasing his new sales plaque, as well as asking for a moment of silence for Whitney Houston, Lil’ Wayne rapped a line where he throws shade at The Throne.

Lil Wayne: 'I'm Not Bothered By Low Sales Of Drake's 'Take Care' Album'

Drizzy has received mixed reviews for his second studio album, with critics slamming him for being too emotional on the LP. Now, the rapper's Young Money boss Weezy has stepped in to publicly defend Drizzy's poor album sales, saying they are not important.


"As far as expectations, we don't have those around here," Weezy told MTV News. "Expectations are a weakness in the music business because if you expect anything, 10 times out of 10 its not gonna happen, so we don't have expectations around here."


"What we do expect is... to work very hard and we expect people to respect our hard work and our effort. Now as far as going to buy the album, as far as going to get 750,000 copies, that's never a problem with us; that's never important to us."


Drizzy will be waiting to see if Take Care can top the US Billboard charts on Wednesday.

Big Boi's Neighborhood recently chopped it up with Drake and discovered quite a few things from the Young Money emcee. The two talked about the success of Tha Carter IV and Lil' Wayne and Nicki Minaj's iconic status.

Miami has been glamorized by rappers as a lavish kingdom of bootylicious strip clubs, ever-flowing champagne, constant monetary precipitation, and a hub for the most epic parties on earth. But, Hip-Hop’s hoe wrangler, Uncle Luke, is tired of it. The elder rapper has called Diddy, Lil Wayne, and DJ Khaled out for “freeloading and mooching” off of Miami and not giving anything back to the communities.
In a letter posted in the Miami New Times, Uncle Luke blames Miami’s entertainment industry for becoming groupies and allowing these rappers to freely run a muck in their city. He also called Lil Wayne a sell out for celebrating with the Mavs after they won their NBA Championship over the Miami Heat. In the midst of his rant, he did praise Pitbull for his positive work in the community.

“I’ve got a message for Lil Wayne, his Cash Money Brothers, DJ Khaled, Puff Daddy and all the rappers from other parts of the country who now live in Miami. I’m tired of seeing these cats using up our beaches, soaking up our sunshine, taking over the nightclubs, and sleeping with our women without investing anything into the community. I want to know when Lil Wayne is going to do more than show up courtside at the American Airlines Arena. Hell, it’s not like he paid for them anyway. You know he got comped.
This free loading and mooching of my city has got to stop. There used to be a day when out of town rappers were scared to throw their weight around Miami. It didn’t matter if they were coming from New York or Los Angeles, they knew better than to act like they owned this motherf*cker.
Artists knew better than to come to Miami and disrespect us. But now folks in Miami’s entertainment industry have gone soft, turning into a bunch of groupies just because they want to say they drank Rozay with the Cash Money crew. Just ’cause Lil Wayne and DJ Khaled are from New Orleans doesn’t mean they don’t have to be a part of the community. They’re getting rich under fun and sun. They rap in their songs about King of Diamonds and LIV nightclub, where Lil Wayne was partying it up with Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks after they beat the Miami Heat for the NBA championship.
What kind of sell-out move is that? I want to see Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, Puff Daddy and all their boys start doing more for Miami. I want to see them doing fundraisers to help youth sports and after school programs. I want to see them at FCAT rallies. I want to see them do like Pitbull who works closely with the Kiwanis Club in Little Havana and DJ Irie who puts on a charity weekend for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
I’m giving them a deadline. They got until January 1. If I don’t see them giving back to the Magic City, I’m gonna have their Miami cards revoked. They won’t be getting into any more nightclubs. They won’t be able to go near our women. And Lil Wayne is gonna have to find floor seats for New Orleans Hornets home games because he won’t be allowed inside the Triple A.”
Uncle Luke put a deadline on those dudes! If they don’t put together a charity basketball game or something by January 1, 2012, he is banning them from his city. But, when did Luke become the gatekeeper of Miami? If my memory serves me well, he tried to run for Mayor and his city didn’t elect him!

Jay-Z Addresses Lil Wayne Beef, Says 'That's Sport'

Hip-hop's two biggest names, Jay-Z and Lil Wayne, have thrown a couple shots each other's way on wax this year ... so what's all the beef about?
Hov responded recently, surprised by why it's even news.
On the track "It's Good", off Weezy's recently released Tha Carter IV, the rap star send some shots Jay's way, in response to a bar he aimed at Birdman.
"Talkin' about baby money, I got your baby money, kidnap your bitch, get that how much you love your lady money / I know you fake n***a*, press your brakes n**** / I'll take you out, that's a date, n****," Wayne raps on the track.
On Jay's Watch The Throne single, "H.A.M.," he had this to say: "I'm like really, half a billi, n**** really you got baby money / Keep it real with n****s, n****s ain't got my lady money."
Weezy downplayed the beef in Vibe magazine's coverstory, saying "I know there won't be any repercussions behind what I did."
MTV News caught up with Hov at his carnival-themed benefit last Thursday (September 29), where he reluctantly addressed the situation.
"That's sport, that's rap music," said Jay. "Nothing is going to change but the participants. I don't even see why that's news."

Lil Wayne heading to South Africa for “I Am Still Music”

Young Money CEO/best-selling hip-hop artist Lil Wayne will head to Africa this December, as part of a world tour.

The rapper is taking his “I Am Still Music” tour around the world, including a new run of dates in South Africa. Lil Wayne will perform in three different cities during the month of December.

The New Orleans bred rapper perform at the Bellville Velodrome on December 7th, before heading to Johannesburg for a date at the Coca-Cola Dome on December 9th.

There is a third date booked in the city of Durban, but the venue for the December 11th date has yet to be revealed.

The three-date tour of South Africa is being promoted by Canoc Productions.

Lil Wayne & Juelz Santana To Finally Drop Joint LP. New Young Money Disc Also On The Way

Lil Wayne and Juelz Santana's much talked about joint album is finally going to see the light of day five years after talk of the collaboration first surfaced.

Mack Maine, who serves as both an artist and Young Money's President, revealed the news to XXL.

“The next project he's working on is I Can’t Feel My Face with [Juelz Santana],” Maine said. “Elz is talented man. He’s a young legend. [Wayne’s] back working in the studio. He has that and the Young Money album.”

The Young Money album is expected before the end of the year. There is no firm release date yet for I Can't Feel My Face.

Lil Wayne Announces New Single From 'The Carter IV'

Just as fans thought Lil Wayne's Drake and Jadakiss-assisted track "It's Good" would serve as the next single for Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV, plans have switched. Young Money now says  "Mirrors" featuring Bruno Mars, which will host as the album's new single.

"Mirrors," which is featured on the deluxe edition, has already been added to radio mixes, but the song will impact Top 40 stations in the upcoming weeks.The bonus track which is noted as one of the most popular jams on the effort has already peaked at no. 16 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, doing extremely well compared to "It's Good" which peaked at no. 79.

"She Will" is the highest charting single from the album thus far, reaching no. 3 on Billboard's Hot 100, and Wayne's second highest charting song overall following "Lollipop." Other past singles such as "How To Love" hit no. 5, "John" at no. 22, and his debut single, "6 Foot 7 Foot" at no. 9.-Bobby.D

Lil Wayne Added To Guiness Book Of World Records Twice This Year

Lil Wayne has entered the Guinness Book of World Records twice this year.

He was first inducted by having the most "likes" on Facebook and now he has the most songs to enter the US Hot 100 Charts by any hip-hop artist, a total of 82 songs. Jay-Z is trailing behind with 66 sings, while the Glee Cast has the most of any artist on the charts with 156 songs. 

Weezy first entered the Hot 100 with his track "Shine" featuring The Hot Boys back in 2000, it peaked at 96. Since then only "Lollipop" and "Down" (Performed by Jay Sean featuring Lil Wayne) scored the number 1 spot. Followed by "Bed Rock" (Performed by Young Money) and "We Are The World 25" for Haiti (Performed by Various Artists) peaked at number 2.

CHARTWATCH: Weezy’s Tha Carter IV Goes Platinum; The Throne, Game, and Bad Meets Evil Hold Down the Top 20

After nearly crossing the 1,000,000 mark last week, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV (Cash Money/Universal) has been certified platinum after selling an additional 206,630 copies of his new album in its second week. With the recent success of the album’s newest single “She Will” featuring Drake getting heavy rotation, Tha Carter IV won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Expect the album to hang around the top ten for a few more weeks until some more high-profile albums are released near the end of September and early October.



A month later it should still come as no surprise that Jay-Z and Kanye West’s collaborative album, Watch the Throne (RocNation/Def Jam), is still in the Top 10. This week, at #6, the much talked about album moved just under 50,000 copies, a 40% decline from the week prior.

Coming in at #17 and #19 are Bad Meets Evil with Hell: The Sequel (Shady/Interscope) moving 18,386 copies and Game with The R.E.D. Album (Interscope) moving 17,718 copies. That is a 4% increase for Eminem and Royce and a 50% decline for Game, who just announced that his fifth and final studio album for Interscope records will be called Soundtrack to Chaos and will be released sometime next year.

Sources close to the rapper tell us, Weezy packed a portable quarter pipe into a trailer, pulled by an Escalade -- and according to sources, the tricked out SUV follows the rapper's tour bus 24/7.

We're told Wayne rips it whenever he wants -- pulling over at random places on the road to squeeze in some much-needed board time ... and he's even hired a pro skater to coach him.

Weezy's been working on his new skateboard hobby for a while now -- and while he's no pro, he's definitely improving.

1. Lil Wayne's "6 Foot 7 Foot" is a much bigger single than The Throne's "Otis"—despite the fact that it was released more than nine months ago.
There isn't a huge difference between the two singles as far as chart positions go—"6 Foot 7 Foot" peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, while "Otis" has gone as high as No. 12—but it's safe to say that a lot of the success of "Otis" can be attributed to the fact that Jay and 'Ye built WTT's buzz up to a deafening level before they finally threw hip-hop fans a bone and released "Otis." Wayne, on the other hand, dropped "6 Foot 7 Foot" allllll the way back in 2010, which has given both the song and the Bangladesh instrumental time to work their way into the mainstream. As a result, it remains ubiquitous on Top 40 radio.
Oh, and don't think we forgot about "How To Love," either. Hate it or love it, that song is a huge crossover hit for Wayne (it peaked at No. 5 on the Hot 100 chart) and, while hip-hop heads haven't exactly embraced it, mainstream radio has. And that's what you need to sell a million albums in your first week.

2. Lil Wayne hasn't given diehard fans much to work with since he got out of jail at the end of 2010.
By Lil Wayne's standards, he's been remarkably quiet in the last calendar year.Before prison, he was releasing a handful of mixtapes, a dozen or so guest appearances, and an album every year or so. But outside of a few notable guest spots (see: Kelly Rowland's "Motivation") and his lackluster Sorry IV the Waitmixtape, Weezy has been super quiet in 2011. So it's really no surprise that all his fans would rush out and buy the first sanctioned piece of work he put out in 2011.

3. Lil Wayne fans have proven that they'll buy just about anything that Wayne puts out.
Remember the I Am Not A Human Being album that Young Money released last September? Not exactly classic material. Yet, Wayne fans flocked to buy it. The lead single, "Right Above it," featuring Drake, was certified platinum and the album as a whole is almost platinum, too, having sold more than 900,000 copies to date. If you remember, that album wasn't promoted super well and included stuff that Wayne had recorded damn near a year before it actually dropped. All that didn't matter to Wayne's fans, though, who scooped it up with the quickness.

4. Lil Wayne's appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards put him front and center on the night that Tha Carter IV was released.
Make no mistake about it: This marketing tactic helped Wayne sell a boatload of albums. It's not like he performed a week before Tha Carter IV dropped or even a couple of days before people could pick it up in stores. He performed at the VMAs hours before people could log onto iTunes to cop it. It gave people the chance to buy it while Wayne was fresh on the brain.
Granted, there was also a palpable buzz for Watch The Throne that existed on the Internet. But even in 2011, not everyone runs to the Web to cop music or even relies on the 'net to tell them what they should be listening to, so Jay and 'Ye missed out on a lot of sales simply because they kept the album a secret for so long.

5. Lil Wayne has worked his ass off touring to get people excited about his music again.
If you think about Wayne's buzz before Tha Carter III as compared to his buzz before Tha Carter IV, it was much different back then than it was this time around. In 2008, Wayne had so much material floating around on the Internet and such a big buildup to the project that people couldn't wait to cop Carter III. It's one of the reasons it flew off store shelves. In 2011, that same buzz is still there, just in a different form. Wayne's I Am Music tour has put him front and center in dozens of different cities throughout the last year. It's given the rap blogs tons of material, given rap fans an opportunity to reconnect with Wayne, and given Wayne the chance to sell himself to the people again. And it's paid off. It's paid off big.
So while it seems like Watch The Throne should have outsold Tha Carter IV, the truth is that hard work pays off. And while we're sure Jay and 'Ye worked hard onWTT, Wayne worked just a little bit harder at actually getting people to buy his album. So, should we really be surprised at how many albums he was able to sell? Like it or not, Wayne wins again with Carter IV.
